birdshooter > Killdeer have to avoid predators from above; falcons and hawks. They use their color to hide from these larger birds. Can you find the lone killdeer in the photo? Go to the XL size photo and you might be able to see the bird. Hint? It's in the upper right side.
birdshooter > Krider's Red-tailed Hawk photographed in the Katy prairie
This is what camo on birds and insects is all about. If your small and in the open and this guy sees you, he'll have you for lunch.
birdshooter > Same tree, different day, different roost. Sleep well.
birdshooter > American Bittern / Anauach National Wildlife Reserve
birdshooter > American Pipit photographed on the Attwater Prairie Chicken NWR. His color and feather pattern make him almost invisible to a predator.
birdshooter > American Bittern (Brazos Bend State Park)

birdshooter > Black & White Warbler
birdshooter > I didn't see this gator while taking a picture of a heron in Brazos Bend SP. This photo inspired me to start this gallery.
