Creepers are small tree climbers with curved bills. Wrens are chunky little birds with slender, curved bills. They vigorously defend their territory with loud song belieing their small size.

birdshooter > This little White-breasted Nuthatch was climbing up and down a large pine tree picking insects out of the bark.  He was photographed in Rocky Mtn National Park.
birdshooter > This Brown Creeper is so small many people miss seeing him.  They like the big pine trees found in Bear Creek Park, Harris County, TX where this photograph was taken.
birdshooter > In addition to being so small the Brown Creeper is camoflaged against the bark of the pine tree.  Do you see him?
birdshooter > This little Carolina Wren is the loudest little bird in the woods.  His song sounds like "tea kettle" repeated four or five times.  This guy was proclaiming his territory in the Jones State Forest in Montgomery County.

birdshooter > The Rock Wren is most commonly found in Western US.  This bird was photographed in Creede, Colorado.
birdshooter > These Brown-headed Nuthatches are sometimes found in family units.  This one was photographed on the Jones State Forest in Montgomery County off FM1488.
