This is Sprague Lake, RMNP at dawn. The sun was still below the horizon but the reflected light off the clouds tuned the sky red and blue. This is one beautiful place.

This is Big Bend National Park at dawn. This is the Chisos Mountains looking south from the main highway. The "Basin" is on the other side of that big rock.

This Bison is suning himself in the middle of the day. The white substance is not snow but calcium residue from the geysers and steam leaks around.

Another bird that seem to like the desert was the Loggerhead Shrike. He found plenty to eat jumping off this yucca perch and grabbing it.

Putting the subject between the light source and the camera is known as backlight. It sometimes produces a dramatic landscape.

This is the Cholla Cactus, pronounced "choy ya". The thin prickly exterior is translucent and seems to glow in the sun. You don't want to back into one of these.

If there is one bird that says alot about Big Bend it is the Roadrunner. This bird doesn't fly but chases insects and small rodents with his feet. Beep, beep.

The hot water from the gysers flows over the limestone revealing the yellow tint. It gives the Park its name.

This was one of the largest bull elk that I saw in Yellowstone. He is wading in the middle of the Madison River and gave everyone and great view and photograph.
