birdshooter > Creede, Colorado was established in 1890 after the discovery of silver in this mine by Nicholas Creede on Willow Creek.  Silver brought a short term prosperity to Creede.  The silver played out and most of the residents left.  Creede is a small town which attracts retirees and people who want a quiet life.  These old abandoned mines are all that is left of the mining industry.
