The heart of Amalfi are preserved "the head and other bones" of St. Andrew, Jesus' first disciple
Andrew, who had evangelized Greece to modern-day Russia, was crucified in Patras.  His body was taken first to Constantinople and later to Amafli in 1208.  He was buried in this crypt.
