Cottonmouth Water-moccasin can sometimes be difficult to see on the ground. This one saw me coming and coiled up ready to strike. He was on the hiking trail at Barker Reservois, George Bush Park on a warm April morning.

I don't think this is a Cottonmouth, but its a water snake. Photo taken at Attwater Prairie Chicken NWR An expert has said that this snake is a Diamond Back Water Snake.
This Cottonmouth Water-moccasin was crossing my trail and turned to meet me when I walked up on him. You can see how they got their name.

The American Alligator is one mean looking lizzard. This one was about 12 foot and on the trail around the 40 Ac lake in Brazos Bend State Park. I pointed my camera at him and he smiled!
