In 2018 we (Mary Alice & I) were on our 4th Alaska cruise so we had pretty much done everything while in Skagway. The cruise line offered this tour, a "photography tour," a small tour limited to 10 people and accompanied by a local photographer. These are usually pretty good and much better than the canned excursions involving 75-100 on buses. So when this photo tour popped up on the Skagway excursions and it was available, I jumped at it. This is a shot of most of the people on the tour. The guide drove us up the pass into Canada where we turned around and came back. The guide had some favorite stops but several of us asked if we could stop at the top of the pass. If you ever go to Alaska via cruise line, remember photography tour, or hire a taxi to take you. Avoid the big ship's tours.
Tourist towns like Skagway were hit hard by the pandemic and its effect on tourism. I hope they have bounced back.
