Our route through the Vaucluse started in Gordes (lower left corner). To get to Gordes from Vence we had to leave early on the morning of 28th July driving down to the A8 and west on the motor-route to Cavaillon, North on D938 to D900 East to the D2 to Gordes.
We arrived in Gordes around 9:00AM. The sun was still low with beautiful soft light. See photo.
I regret not going into Gordes but all the fields of lavender were cut around Gordes. We went on to the Abbey Senanque. See photos.
Murs was supposed to be where we had a hotel reservation but there was a mix up on the date so we drove north to Sault (upper center of map). Sault was a great place for lavender. It supplied all the photos I took of the lavender fields.
I highly recommend you get a good map like the laminated STREETWISE PROVENCE sold by Streetwise Maps, Inc. along with a GPS. The map will give you the correct name of the village you want to drive to and the GPS will keep you on the right roadway.
