Archer County Courthouse: Archer City, Texas
Archer County Courthouse in Archer City
I visited Archer County in June of 2014 along with other courthouses in north central Texas. Archer City is located at the intersection of Texas SH79 and SH25 in north central Texas.
The courthouse is a striking beige sandstone. It was designed by architect A. N. Dawson and built in 1892. It is a Romanesque Revival style of architecture. In 1928 the central tower was removed.
Archer County erected a beautiful granite veteran’s memorial on the courthouse grounds near the front entrance. It honors veterans who served in WW1, WW2, Korea and Vietnam.
